The historic schoolyard of Museum Het Schip is, as far as we are concerned, one of Amsterdam’s best-kept secrets: an oasis of tranquility right in the middle of the city. Not only can you marvel at the impressive brickwork patterns, wavy facades, and the iconic tower by Michel de Klerk here; you will also find a colorful collection of authentic Amsterdam School street furniture. An added bonus: in the summer, you can enjoy a delicious bite and beverage from our menu on the terrace.
Schoolyard Greening 2024 - 2025
Nature was an important source of inspiration for the artists of the Amsterdam School. To express this on the schoolyard as well, historically accurate planting was chosen for the greening, which also contributes to rich biodiversity.
This project was made possible in part by the Dinamo Fund.
