Lunchroom exhibition Daniella Perera

From 6 May until 26 June, the exhibition 'The Spaarndammerbuurt Trio' by Daniella Perera will be on show in Museum Het Schip's lunchroom.

Daniella Perera (1981) was born in Hong Kong and has previously lived in London and Kuala Lumpur. In late 2020, she and her husband moved to Amsterdam. Upon cycling past Het Schip by pure chance, it was love at first sight! She holds a deep admiration for the beautiful craftsmanship of the Amsterdam School movement which can be seen in both the interior and exterior of buildings.

As a child, Daniella has always been interested in the past; especially with how people used to live and work. When she steps into a historical building, it is like she’s stepping back in time and into the stories of our ancestors. Daniella therefore finds it of critical importance to preserve buildings from the past. With these 6 pieces of artwork in her first solo exhibition, she pays tribute to the Amsterdam School movement; specifically 3 buildings located in the Spaarndammerbuurt area of Amsterdam West.

In addition to being a visual artist, Daniella is also a vlogger on YouTube under the name @pocketlighthouse. She makes videos about Amsterdam and gives tips for settling into this thriving city. Both Museum Het Schip and Museum De Dageraad are featured on her channel.

All artwork on display is available for purchase directly from the artist. Please get in touch by sending an email or a DM via Instagram.
