Lunchroom exhibitions

Museum Het Schip is eager to offer a stage to up-and-coming talent. For this reason, every three months, the work of a contemporary artist is displayed in the museum's lunchroom.

The works of the selected artists reflect on the (social) themes that are dealt with in the museum in a contemporary and authentic manner, as well as the stylistic characteristics of the Amsterdam School in a broader sense. For example, they may be inspired by the labour movement or the housing shortage, or come up with a translation of the movement's visual language. In this way, they place the Amsterdam School movement of the last century in a contemporary context.
