About

This summer Housing Europe, the European Federation of Public, Cooperative and Social Housing and Aedes- the Federation of Dutch Social Housing Associations take part in a unique celebration of decent, affordable housing for all. On the occasion of the International Social Housing Festival they will host their annual policy conference. This event brings together representatives of housing associations across Europe, policy makers and the civil society in an exchange that generates evidence-based policy suggestions. You may see here how the ‘Housing Policies’ Conference unfolded at the UN Headquarters in Geneva last year.

Itinerary

The conference will provide expert analysis of the current trends impacting activities of public, cooperative & social housing providers and requiring them to do things differently compared to the past.

Secondly it will identify the innovative practices which help shape the delivery of affordable in housing in the years and decades to come. We will discuss factors which will enable social housing providers to embrace (demographic, economic and technical) changes and (re-)invent a model which will help them continue to deliver housing for an increasingly diverse part of the population. Representatives from Cities, key partners in this challenge, will provide their vision on adapting to change.

Organizers

Housing Europe is the European Federation of Public, Cooperative & Social Housing. Since 1988 it comprises a network of 44 national & regional federations representing 43,000 housing providers in 24 countries. Together they manage over 26 million homes, about 11% of existing dwellings in Europe.

Aedes is the national organisation promoting the interests of practically every social housing organisation in the Netherlands, on all possible fronts. Together, Aedes members manage 2.4 million dwellings, constituting 32 percent of the total housing stock. As a network organisation, knowledge centre and think tank, Aedes provides a platform for its 299 members to meet, exchange ideas and develop visions.
