Call for speakers

We are inviting the professional community of cooperative/collaborative housing to submit talks for the upcoming event Collaborative housing: public, private and cooperative experiences. Talks and workshop on Wednesday 14 June 2017, 13:00 hrs – 17:30 hrs, Het Schip Museum, Oostzaanstraat 45, Amsterdam, promoted by Fondazione Housing Sociale and Legacoop Abitanti within the International Social Housing Festival 2017 in Amsterdam.

This call for presentations closes on May 10th.

This is what we call a hybrid call for proposals: if you think you have something great to talk about, tell us about it and we will consider your entry. If you know someone who has something great to talk about, please nominate them! And if you are interested in hearing about a particular topic, nominate the topic, and we can try and find a match.

Presentations

Are you a social housing manager or provider, a practitioner or an expert in collaborative and co-operative housing? Are you a researcher investigating community led design in the housing field? Are you a residents group representative or are you working in a specific program dealing with any collaborative initiative?

Fondazione Housing Sociale and Legacoop Abitanti are pleased to invite you and your organization to contribute to the discussion and share your experiences and point of view.

Contributions are welcome in form of presentation proposals. Find the application form for presentation proposals here.

Topics

Presentations should aim to shed light on key aspects of these topics:

  • What is new on the design and implementation of tools for collaborative communities of dwellers? Which platforms have become successful? Which not? Are they competing with any other profit platform in terms of scale?
  • How can cooperatives be viable housing alternative actors in the 21st century?
  • How can cooperatives best address changing aspirations for living situations, using grassroots urban development?
  •  Which are the good examples of collaborative housing within the cooperative sector across Europe?
  • What kind of hybrid systems have been built up through co-design and co-creation of organizations engaging with communities?
  • How do collaborative/cooperative projects contribute to the perspective of social mix and address the need of specific targets of population (elderly/migrants/young people) through a collaborative approach?
  • Which innovative tools do different organizations use in the property/facility/community management (e.g. web platforms, tutorials, laboratory samples, etc.)?

In both sessions, all presentations will be in English. Presentations are expected to be 15 minutes long. We strongly encourage timing your presentation in advance. We will select eight presentations for each of the two sessions. Speakers of the parallel sessions are requested to participate to the plenary workshop.

All talks will be recorded and published on the internet for free, along with a recording of the slide deck, live-demo or other on-presenter-screen activity as well as a transcript and subtitles in English.

We do this for the benefit of the larger collaborative housing community and those who cannot come to the event. We hope you want to help out, but if you are in any way uncomfortable, let us know and we will work things out.

Finally, since you retain full ownership of your slides, we would like to ask you to make your materials available under a creative commons or other open source license.
