The Architects of Plan Zuid

During this elaborate themed walk, one of our guides will tell you all about this beautiful part of the city. You will pass buildings by Michel de Klerk and Piet Kramer, as well as the work of the Netherlands' first female architect, Margaret Staal-Kropholler.

From undulating façades to magnificent ornaments; the Amsterdam School only flourished for a short time, but had a tremendous influence. Beauty, space, and plenty of greenery were of paramount importance in Plan Zuid, which is reflected in the numerous wide streets, green courtyards, and bridges decorated with sculptures. All Amsterdam School artists and architects were dedicated in their own way to creating a pleasant living environment for the city's inhabitants. Discover the differences between the work of architects Kruijswijk, Van Epen, Rutgers, and Westerman.

The walk starts at Museum De Dageraad and takes you through the Rivierenbuurt in approximately 2 hours, taking you past the highlights of this remarkable period in history.
