A bus tour with a professional tour guide on the history of social housing in the Netherlands. The bus tour starts at Museum het Schip. There you will be introduced to the terrible housing condition at the end of the 19th century. The answer to that problem is the monumental Amsterdam School building Het Schip. On the tour you will pass the many success stories of social housing. From the early social housing, just after the housing act of 1901, to the modern renewal high rises of Het Nieuwe Bouwen in the 1930s. The bus tour provides an overview of the most important social housing projects from the 20th century and examples of urban renewal. A stop is made at the van Eesteren Museum to make a visit to a postwar dwelling. Afterwards the bus will return to Museum het Schip.

When booking please note if you would like the tour in English so that we can make the necessary arrangements. On this moment this tour is only for groups.
